Washington, DC, February 16, 2016 - The U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) will hold a public business meeting on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, to discuss the status of ongoing investigations, advocacy related to the State of California’s Process Safety Management (PSM) reforms, audits from the Office of the Inspector General, financial and organizational updates, and a review of the agency’s action plan.
The meeting will be held at the CSB’s offices located at 1750 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 910, Washington, DC, 20006 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

CSB Chairperson Vanessa Allen Sutherland said, “I am looking forward to hearing from both my fellow board members and the public, and to sharing my own perspectives, on a few ongoing initiatives that are moving forward at the CSB. We need to communicate and listen, genuinely and intently, to execute our work successfully.”
The CSB is an independent federal agency charged with investigating industrial chemical accidents. The agency's board members are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. CSB investigations look into all aspects of chemical accidents, including physical causes such as equipment failure as well as inadequacies in regulations, industry standards, and safety management systems.
The Board does not issue citations or fines but does make safety recommendations to plants, industry organizations, labor groups, and regulatory agencies such as OSHA and EPA.
